Our Vanishing Civil Liberties
Last New Year's Eve, President Obama signed the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) for 2012. Through this law:
• The government can label you a terrorist, arrest you without charges, and hold you without trial, merely on suspicion of association with terrorist groups. The language in this part of the NDAA is so vague that it can be applied to anyone;
• The armed forces can detain you indefinitely, whether or not you are a US citizen;
• You can be denied the right to a lawyer and due process;
• You can be sent away to a foreign country, where you may be imprisoned and/or tortured with no legal recourse.
The 2013 NDAA is being debated in Congress this summer. Please spread the word and join us to learn about this attack on our civil liberties and what you can do.
