Time passes by. The winds of change spare nothing on its way. The look of a city changes in due course. The change, positive or negative, is sometimes noticeable and sometimes not; worse still when taken note of but belatedly. Several structures old and new tower overhead as we cruise amidst the heavy metro traffic in routine course. The monuments are symbols of a glorious past; the ones who built them are now a part of history but these structures per se enrich our cultural heritage. They are not “history” but are strong reminders of an affluent past, a cultural assimilation, great craftsmanship and heightened sense of architecture: a fistful of reasons to keep alive the sense of ethnocentrism in each of us.
