JIM WHITE's eclectic past as a one time Pentacostal, fashion model, New York taxi driver, drifter, pro-surfer, photographer, film-maker, is the conduit for all the stories he collected along the way. Jim also starred in the BBC4 film "Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus," an award-winning road-movie exploring Southern culture through its music and stories. His latest record, "Transnormal Skiperoo" was produced by Joe Pernice and Michael Deming, recorded with the band Ollabelle, and also features tracks with Tucker Martine and Laura Veirs, local Georgia legend Don Chambers & Goat, bluegrass duo Jeff & Vida and percussionist Mauro Refosco.
Some people refer to OTIS GIBBS as a folk artist, but that is a simplistic way to describe a man who has planted over 7,000 trees, slept in hobo jungles, walked with nomadic shepherds in the Carpathian Mountains, been strip-searched by dirty cops in Detroit, and has an FBI file. His latest album, "Grandpa Walked a Picketline," showcases Otis' ability to breathe life into the characters of his songs. It was produced and mixed by Chris Stamey, engineered by legendary Motown engineer, Bob Olhsson, and was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee with an impressive list of players including, Al Perkins, Don Dixon, Tim Easton and Will Rigby.
CAROLINE HERRING's music has been hailed for combining traditional sounds with striking, original observations into modern life and love. The Austin Chronicle proclaimed her album 'Lantana' to be "the best modern Southern Gothic album since Lucinda Williams' "Sweet Old World." On 'Golden Apples of the Sun,' her latest release on Signature Sounds, Herring stakes out new terrain, exchanging the country-influenced sound of her previous albums for a darker, hauntingly personal sound inspired by the iconic female folk singers and songwriters of the 1960s and 70s. In May of 2010, Herring performed at the fabulous Fox Theater, as one of the main acts, on Garrison Keillor's infamous Prarie Home Companion.
