The one-of-a-kind Other Minds Festival returns to the JCCSF, presenting the most creative voices in contemporary music, from distinguished artists to emerging talents.
This year’s festival will feature three world premiere commissions, from legendary performer-composer Wadada Leo Smith, San Francisco’s Dan Becker, and Keeril Makan, a New Jersey native of mixed Indian and Russian Jewish heritage. They will be joined by Dieter Schnebel (Germany), Elena Kats-Chernin (Uzbekistan), Åke Parmerud (Sweden), electronic music pioneer Morton Subotnick, and two remarkable cellists: Frances-Marie Uitti, whose groundbreaking two-bow cello technique has revolutionized the instrument, and Michael Bach using his own invention–the BACH.bow–in the American Premiere performance of John Cage’s One13.
