On Sunday, March 5, 2006, Washingtonians will join the red carpet festivities at the American Film Institute's Silver Theatre when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences stages its 78th Academy AwardsŽ Presentation. ABC and the Academy are cooperating for the fifth year to create the official Oscar NightŽ America party in our nation?s capital. Partygoers and movie-lovers will enjoy a red carpet cocktail reception beginning at 7:00PM with special guests, a silent auction of movie-themed items, and an official ?Predict the Winners Contest.? At 8:00PM, the Academy Awards will telecast on the ABC Television Network. Proceeds benefit First Star, a national 501c3 public charity dedicated to improving life for America?s abused and neglected children.
