This summer, Houstonians will have the opportunity for an up-close and personal look at the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile when it stops in the city July 8-9. The Kroger store located at 1938 West Gray will be the first location to host the Wienermobile, and to celebrate, a slew of activities will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. including a fundraiser for Houston’s Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) affiliated hospital – Texas Children’s. Hot dogs, soda, ice cream, and other treats will be sold to raise funds for CMN. Additional activities will include a moonwalk and the distribution of wiener whistles that have the original instructions dating back to 1936 on how to play the Oscar Mayer Wiener song.
The event is free to attend and Mayor Bill White’s Youth Council is onboard to provide volunteer support for the day. Corporate sponsors include Kraft Foods / Oscar Mayer; Electro Freeze Dist. of TX, Inc.; Coca-Cola Houston; First Convenience Bank; Sunbeam Bakeries; Pepperidge Farm, Inc.; BLC Moon Walks of Houston; and Kroger.
