2012 Summer Nights Festival of Outdoor Concerts at the Osher Marin JCC
Music, Dinners, Cocktails, Picnics, Dancing, Playground
ORQUESTA LA MODERNA TRADICION
Sat, 8/4 @ 7pm
The fifth of the series of multi-cultural outdoor concerts brings violins and flutes weaving lilting melodies against the backdrop of driving Afro-Cuban rhythms. From the first note, you’ll want to jump out of your seat. The orchestra’s repertoire ranges from traditional Danzón and Cha-Cha-Cha to the latest salsa and timba grooves with surprising twists: you should hear their spin on the old church tune “Golden Slippers.” As one critic put it: “Imagine a blend of Tito Puente and a tango, and you'll begin to get an idea of the power and beauty of this music.”
The dance floor will be set, a pre-event Latin dance instruction will get you in the mood and, cocktails, dinners from Sol Food available on-site, dancing, and playground makes for fun for the whole family. All outdoors under Marin skies.
