A great holiday tradition continues as the Society once again presents its distinctive Northwest book fair, the Holiday Cheer and Authors Party. A seasonal celebration that began in 1966 ? the same year the Society moved into its current location on the Southwest Park Blocks ? the integrity and purpose of the event has remained intact through the years: To celebrate the written word, and benefit the Society, by bringing together book lovers and authors in a festive holiday atmosphere.
After several seasons off-site, the Holiday Cheer and Authors Party this year returns to the Oregon Historical Society building at 1200 SW Park Avenue. The celebration takes place in the Society?s new entrance and lobby building, the James F. Miller Pavilion, an open and inviting space that will comfortably accommodate many authors and visitors alike. There is no admission fee for the Holiday Cheer and Authors Party, and during this year?s Party the museum galleries will also be open and free of charge.
Books available for purchase ? all recent releases ? will include biographies, children?s books, mysteries, cookbooks, field guides and histories, including new titles from the Oregon Historical Society Press. To receive a copy of the 37th Annual Holiday Cheer and Authors? Party brochure, listing the full roster of featured authors and books, call the Society at 503-222-1741.
