Opera with the UCI Symphony Orchestra May 17, 2012

The Old Maid and the Thief, a comedy in English, will be presented by the Claire Trevor School of the Arts Music Department. Originally written for radio broadcast in 1939, Menotti's comic opera pokes fun at small-town gossip and the consequences of believing stereotypes. The musical score is rich with soaring arias and witty ensembles.
