Hear musical stories of life and love penned by the great operatic composers and modern masters like Gershwin, Cole Porter, Sondheim and Bernstein. Opera Times Two And Sondheim, Too! will be presented on Saturday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Williamsburg Library Theatre, 515 Scotland Street. Favorite arias and duets, and Broadway show songs will be performed by stars from the Metropolitan Opera and the New York City Opera -- acclaimed young soprano Tonna Miller and Jennifer Hines, rising international mezzo-soprano. Jennifer Hines has performed at the Metropolitan Opera under Maestro James Levine and as part of the Ring Cycle in the 2004-05 season. She made her recording debut in the title role of Astor Piazzola's Maria de Buenos Aires, Murry Sidlin conducting, recently released on the Koch label. Opera News has lauded Jennifer for her "rich, dark mezzo" and "... a voice so rich and colored that she easily steals any scene in which she appears."
Award winning young soprano and Texas native Tonna Miller is quickly gaining a reputation for her pure, dulcet voice and her delightful stage presence. She recently was heard in the title role in Patience with New York City Opera and has performed with the Houston Grand Opera and other regional companies in roles as varied as Yum-Yum in The Mikado, Johanna in Sweeney Todd and Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier.
