Festival Opera’s annual al fresco Opera in the Park and family friendly fair. Led by Festival Opera principal conductor Bryan Nies, acclaimed opera soloists Kristin Clayton and Zachary Gordin and the 30-member Festival Opera Chorus perform excerpts from opera favorites such as the Toreador song from Carmen, the Anvil Chorus from Il Trovatore, and “Make Our Garden Grow” from Leonard Bernstein’s Candide. The interactive pre-performance Fair includes famous opera character mask-making (such as “Carmen” and “Don Giovanni”) for children; local arts and crafts booths and more. Open seating available on the lawn at Walnut Creek’s Civic Park; chairs, blankets, coolers, non-alcoholic beverages and food are welcome, but please leave glass containers and Fido at home.
