"Small Paintings - A Few of My Favorite Things" is a group exhibit by artists of the New Mexico Watercolor Society, Southern Chapter. The exhibit opens during the 1st Friday Art Ramble on October 5, 2007 with an artist reception from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The small paintings will remain on display through October 27th.
This is the third time that the group has exhibited small paintings at the Branigan Cultural Center in the last several years. All entries will be 12" X 12" or smaller. Working in smaller formats can often challenge the artist to condense the subject to its most important aspects. This can be particularly difficult when working in watercolor, a medium often used for broad flowing color washes.
The Branigan Cultural Center, 501 N. Main St., is located at the north end of the downtown mall. Parking is accessible from the intersection of Water and Hadley streets. There is no charge and the Cultural Center is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Cultural Center is fully handicap accessible. For more information about the exhibition, contact the Branigan Cultural Center at 541-2154 or visit the Centers web site at http://museums.las-cruces.org.
