Jess Reinhard and Eric McKinley will exhibit “Remembrance: An Artistic Tribute to the Organ Mountains” at the Las Cruces Museum of Art opening June 4 through August 21, 2010. A reception will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010, from 5 to 7pm.
Jess Reinhard received his MFA in printmaking from New Mexico State University in 2007. He will present a series of watercolors. The imagery for Mr. Reinhard’s work is based primarily on characters that he has been developing since he was child. He added that these characters “originate from my imagination and revolve around a darker, more animated view of the world around me.”
Eric McKinley received his BFA from New Mexico State University specializing in printmaking and jewelry. His work incorporates the “familiar imagery from magazine ads and children’s books.” Mr. McKinley states that his art is “… a collaboration of all the advertisements, news reports, billboards, street signs…and anatomical diagrams.” He explains that his art is a way of recycling “the materials of our lives into a melodrama of my own making.”
As of June 1, new gallery hours are 9 am to 4:30 pm Tuesday through Saturday. The Museum of Art will be closed Sunday through Monday.
