About the Exhibition:
Anna Ataeva's Koi and Water works are an expressionist musing on the interplay of light amongst Japanese water lilies and the iridescent
color of the selectively bred Koi fish. Seemingly photographic in their reproduction, the works are heavily impastoed as Ataeva paints
almost exclusively with a palette knife. The oriental influence in her work comes from her early arts education at the School of Oriental
Arts in Moscow. Ataeva later studied at the Moscow Fine Art Lyceum, and received her Masters in Fine Arts from The State Academic Fine Art
Institute of Russian Academy of Arts (Moscow). Her paintings have been exhibited in the art halls of Moscow, Brussels, London and in the
United States.
