Brian Fallsteads Faces in a Crowd, works in sculpture and multi-media, will be on exhibit at the Branigan Cultural Center in Las Cruces Friday, July 6 Saturday, July 28. Meet the artist at an opening reception on Friday, July 6 from 5 7 p.m. Exhibits and receptions are accessible and free of charge.
Fallsteads sculptures are all figurative. He works in a variety of media including fiberglass, steel and French paper mache. While his inspiration is primarily classical and art nouveau sculpture, metal works in the exhibit are very contemporary. The large metal figures of dancers, including ballet folklorico, jazz, ballet and Native American, are suitable for outdoor exhibition. His French paper mache pieces are wall hangings and are his most recent works. Fallstead, who moved to Las Cruces from northern California , studied art at San Jose State , Sac City College in Sacramento , and American River College . He has exhibited locally and in California. He is an assistant in the Ceramics Studio at the Las Cruces Museum of Art.
