Las Cruces, NM – Branigan Cultural Center will showcase handmade books in an exhibit titled “Book It!” April 2 through May 1, 2010. The exhibit opens with an artist reception on Friday, April 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibit was organized by Laurel Weathersbee, owner of Teacup Garden Studio.
In conjunction with “Book It!” a workshop on handmade books will be held on Saturday, April 3 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Laurel Weathersbee, water-media and fiber artist, will teach participants how to make a simple handmade book using a variety of found materials. Each participant will be able to take a finished work home at the end of the workshop. Space in the workshop is limited and preregistration is strongly encouraged. A registration fee of $35.00 covers all materials and instruction, call (575) 541-2154 to register.
The Branigan Cultural Center, 501 N. Main Street, is located at the north end of the downtown mall in Las Cruces. The exhibits are free and open to the public.
