The Artamants membership show opens Friday, October 1 at the Branigan Cultural Center with a reception from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. The public is invited to meet the artists and enjoy the First Friday Ramble on the Downtown Mall. The exhibition will be open through Saturday, October 30th.
Loosely translated from Latin, Artamants means “lovers of art”. A collaborative of local artists, Artamants have been gathering weekly for over a decade to paint, share techniques and camaraderie. Members include Nabuko Bassett, Beverly Denny, Flo Hosa Dougherty, Sheila Duffy, Marie Dwyer, Tom Gerend, Jennifer Goude, Mayanna Howard, Betty Hummer, Darlene Hungate, Janet Jackson, Jo Ledbetter, Sally March, Burt Rawlings, Susan Rivera, Virginia Roach, and Kathy Squires.
This year the Artamants are included in the ‘Art Ramble with PINK’ event, sponsored by NMSU Aggies Are Tough Enough to Wear Pink, a volunteer group dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness, early intervention and fundraising for research which has raised more than $1 million in cash and in-kind contributions. 100% of the money raised by TETWP remains in New Mexico funding nationally recognized cancer research at New Mexico State University and the University of New Mexico.
The Branigan Cultural Center, 501 N. Main Street, is located at the north end of the Downtown Mall in Las Cruces. The exhibits are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, contact the Branigan Cultural Center at (575) 541-2154 or visit the Center’s web site at las-cruces.org/museums.
