Back by popular demand, River City Books is co-sponsoring another open-mike poetry night — this one at 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, at The Contented Cow.
River City and The Cow co-sponsored a similar event in April for National Poetry Month, and the night was such a success the group is returning to the stage with the same format. Either bring your own poem(s) or read those written by other writers. If you don't have a poem on you, no worries: undoubtedly someone will bring an anthology or two to share. Read with dramatic authority or with a straight face — it's up to you. Heck, there’s no pressure. You can even just come to listen.
Several of the poems read during the first open-mike night were laugh-out-loud funny. The idea is provide a casual setting for those who want to enjoy a little poetry with their beverage. The public is welcome to participate in this free event.
The Contented Cow is located at 302B Division Street, just a few doors away from River City Books.
