For the first time Berkeley's own Country Joe McDonald will host an Open Mic Night at the Cafe de la Paz in Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto, on Thursday night, May 29th from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Country Joe's Open Mic Night will happen in the same intimate downstairs room of the 15 year old Cafe de la Paz that turned away folks for two sold out shows with McDonald and the great Ramblin' Jack Elliott last month. McDonald has been kicking around the most famous coffee houses, basket houses and clubs in the country for more than 40 years. That is over 2000 weekends in joints like Berkeley's Freight and Salvage, the San Francisco Coffee Gallery, LA's Troubadour and New York's Tin Angel. Most of the legendary and talented musicians of our time have emerged from Open Mic nights in great clubs and coffee houses around the country. Country Joe is committed to providing an intimate and warm environment to encourage local talent -- Lee Housekeeper
