Open Mic - 1st & 3rd Saturdays, Walnut Creek, sign in 7:30pm May 6, 2006

Our Open Mic is a little different; our goal is to create a community of performing artists that come together to enjoy each other on a regular basis, not just perform and leave. We encourage your to stay, make new friends, learn and get inspired - and to take home some freshly roasted coffee beans! Read your poem, do a magic trick, juggle, practice your stand up routine, or do something crazy, like play a song!

Here are our general guidelines, subject to change at a moment?s notice, without notice...

You'll get two songs (or equivalent) or ten minutes, whichever comes first if there are 12 or fewer people who want to preform. More than 12, and we go to 1 song (or equivalent) or 6 minutes. These timelines are stictly held, so let's all agree to either a) not run over, or b) not be offended when we're asked to stop at the end of ten minutes!

? Depending on the mood of the crowd and the host the end of the evening may wrap up with a jam session - we hope you?ll stay and join in.

? Our open mic is a random lottery, put your name in the hat and we?ll pull a name out one at a time throughout the evening, with priority to those who show up by 8 pm. Sign up begins at 7:30 pm. There are a limited number of slots, , but we?ll do our best to try to get everyone in; those who show up before the open mic begins at 8 pm will play first. If we find that over time there are more musicians who want to play than there is time for we may start at an earlier time in the future.

? We will provide a sound system, a plug in for one acoustic guitar & two mics.

? Every open mic has a performance by our Barista Extraordinaire and Host, Michael Guardado sometime in the evening with a couple songs just like the rest of the group.

Bring your business card, flyer or CD and we'll have a table where new fans can pick up informatio about you and your music. We'll also post a link to those musicians who performed to your website, from this blog under the "Musicians - Open Mic" category.

? Groups or duos can sign up individually and perform with each other when their respective names are called. Ie. Terry and Harry both submit their names, when it?s Terry?s turn, Harry can accompany her, and when it?s Harry?s turn, Terry can reciprocate.
