Ayahooo! Come join us for a festive night of of VIVA! el CINCO DE MAYO!! The holiday is not officially until Tuesday, but we will be celebrating Saturday Night with a Live Mariachi Band, DJ, Coronas, Dos Equis, Tequila, and plenty of dancing!
And of course, we will have OPEN BAR (cocktails, beers, and wine) all night from 9:30pm to 2:00am.
So what is Cinco de Mayo besides just a great party? Well, in the beginning of 1862 the French Army (under the rule of Emperor Napolean III) invaded Mexico while the United States was in its Civil War. Napolean thought he could easily overtake Mexico, then move on to invade the United States. So French troops set out to Mexico City for a seemingly "easy" win over Mexico. But events went drastically different!! On the morning of May 5, 1862, in Puebla, Mexico, 100 miles east of Mexico City, the 8,000 soldiers of the French forces, equipped with the finest modern warfare equipment and a newly reconstituted Foreign Legion, were SMASHED by a Mexican force half their size. 4,000 courageous Mexican soldiers defeated the mighty 8,000 soldier French Army of Napolean!
Consequently, Napolean was not able to mount an offensive against the U.S. These brave 4,000 Mexican soldiers defended their country, and our border. And that's why Cinco de Mayo is such a party- a party that celebrates freedom and liberty. There are two ideals which Mexicans and Americans have fought shoulder to shoulder to protect, ever since the 5th of May, 1862. VIVA! el CINCO DE MAYO!!
So come out on Friday, May 2nd and celebrate this glorious day of Independence! Our DJ will get us shaking our rumps, and the Live Mariachi Band will energize us with VIVA! el CINCO DE MAYO!!
