SIDEWAYS Contemporary Dance Company believes that the arts are an important part of the holiday season but traditions can change. For the fourth annual presentation of “Once Upon a Holiday, A Festive Twist on the Story of Alice in Wonderland” , SIDEWAYS goes beyond tutus, tiaras, and tinsel to present a quirky combination of Alice in Wonderland, the Nutcracker, and holiday cheer. Conceptualized and choreographed by Artistic Director, Charlotte Foster, Once Upon A Holiday is more than just another silly holiday show - it’s a journey through Alice’s world as she discovers herself. “As we quest to discover who we truly are, we will be exposed to many different people and situations, each of them shaping us in some way. Even though we will make wrong decisions and get lost along the way in our search, we will always have family to return to and with that, a home to call our own”, says Foster.
In production with 28 children from across Atlanta, SIDEWAYS combines jazz, ballet, contemporary, waltz, swing, and lindy to create this heart-touching holiday presentation. Once Upon A Holiday takes the stage December 10 and 11, at 8 p.m. and December 11 and 12 at 2 p.m. at 7 Stages Theater in Little Five Points. “With holiday music from Tchaikovsky to Elvis, there is something for everyone. Kids one to 92 will enjoy our show,” said Foster.
