"On Golden Pond" at Wheaton Drama November 18, 2011

Wheaton Drama, Inc. (WDI) will present Ernest Thompson’s charming play, "On Golden Pond".

The cast is: Drew Beasley as Billy Ray; Steve Blount as Norman Thayer, Jr.; Jennifer Ciombor as Chelsea Thayer Wayne; Deven Ferber as Bill Ray; Georgia Hamilton as Ethel Thayer; Vincent Scalone as Charlie Martin.

"On Golden Pond" is directed by Dee Hicks, assisted by Julie Rodgers-Baker. Rebecca Poole is the production manager. Jessica Orozco is the stage manager.

A favorite on stage and on film, "On Golden Pond" sees Ethel and Norman Thayer returning to their summer home in Golden Pond, Maine. Norman is a retired professor, nearing his eightieth birthday with heart palpitations and a failing memory, but he is still tart-tongued and ready for a tête-à-tête with any available challenger. Ethel is ten years younger and the perfect foil for Norman. When their only child visits with her fiancé and his 10-year-old son, Billy, Norman gains a young companion for the summer. Billy learns from Norman and vice versa, making the Thayers’ 48th summer at the cottage a memorable one.

Performances of "On Golden Pond" are November 18 to December 11, 2011 (no show Thanksgiving Day). Shows are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8pm; Sundays at 3pm. "On Golden Pond" is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.
