On Flowers: An Evening of Art and Wine May 26, 2010

So Vino announces an evening of art, wine and hors d'oeuvres to celebrate an up-and-coming Houston artist and the season of spring.

Location: So Vino wine bar and restaurant, 507 Westheimer Road Houston TX 77006
Time: May 26th from 7 to 9 pm

Houston-based artist Anna Ataeva will present a new body of paintings at an informal evening soiree, "On Flowers," hosted by So Vino wine bar and restaurant. Two-dozen floral-themed paintings will be exhibited at So Vino accompanied by flights of wine tastings all inspired by the new growth of spring, each inspired by different flowers. Guests are invited to view the art while enjoying the informal cocktail party.

Says Ataeva, "Houston is already in bloom and it gave me some
inspiration. Paintings of flowers are so common, so overdone in the
history of art that I have purposefully chosen it as my new subject.
Through these small works, I'm attempting to reinvigorate
the genre through my technique. Elizabeth Abraham saw these
paintings in-progress and immediately had the brilliant idea to pair
them with a flower-themed wine and food tasting at her restaurant."

These never-before-seen flower series paintings will be on-sale at So
Vino, available from the artist.
