The OMSI Science Pub http://omsi.edu/education/adults/ is a monthly event where you can find out about advances in science and technology from leading researchers and scientists, all while enjoying food and beverages. Don't expect a remote speaker behind a distant podium. Instead, experience the informal atmosphere where you can interact with the expert and where there are no silly questions. No scientific background is required; just bring your curiosity, sense of humor, and appetite for food, drinks, and knowledge!
Come to the Science Pub on Monday, October 30, for a discussion on:
"The Origins of Life on Earth"
with Dr. Niles Lehman, Professor of Chemistry at Portland State University http://chem.pdx.edu/people/faculty_pages/lehman.htm
Where did life come from? What is alive, anyway? How could it all have started on a lifeless planet? Dr. Lehman will explore problems in studying the origins of life and will tell us about some insights and advances towards solving the puzzle of the beginning of life on Earth.
When: Monday, October 30
Presentation begins at 7:00 p.m. (come early if you want to order food and drink), and will last about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Where: bridgeport brewpub + bakery, 1313 NW Marshall, Portland, OR http://www.bridgeportbrew.com
The Science Pub is open to anyone and everyone, no RSVP is necessary. Please feel free to pass this on to your friends and colleagues, and we hope to see you there!
