Old School Freight Train, a five-member band acclaimed for their original sound that blends jazz, bluegrass, and Latin rhythms, returns to the Williamsburg Library Theatre. This is another in the Librarys Dewey Decibel Concert Series.
Virginia's Old School Freight Train plays innovative contemporary acoustic music that combines thought-provoking lyrics, captivating melodies, soulful vocals, virtuosic instrumentals and imaginative arrangements. OSFT gained accolades from mandolin genius David Grisman, who chose to produce the band's recent album, RUN. "After forty years of recording acoustic music, it is not very often that a new band catches -- and keeps -- my attention," Grisman says. "Old School Freight Train has done that and more." RUN features ten originals and two cover songs. Grisman and percussionist Joe Craven join the band on one of the originals, "Euridice," a sultry bossa nova. Old School Freight Train offers a unique musical experience that's both tangible and of superior quality, raising the bar in acoustic music. They are the new band to watch.
