Old Saybrook Fire Dept turns up the heat on area fire depts.

Old Saybrook -- The Old Saybrook Fire Co. No. 1 will present its Third Annual Firefighters Competition & Family Fun Day on Sunday, June 7, at Clark Memorial Field (Fireman's Field) on Elm Street in Old Saybrook.

The annual daylong event, which is free and open to the public, will feature up to 9 area volunteer fire departments competing in numerous firefighting competitive events, from a fire-suppression obstacle course, to add-a-length fire hose events and water-drafting contests.

The event, whose rain date is Sunday, June 14, will begin at 9:30 a.m. sharp at Clark Memorial Field, 210 Elm St., Old Saybrook, diagonally across from the popular Pasta Vita.

The firefighters competition event will include food and beverage concessions as well as various children's games and activities. The annual firefighters' competition will include grandstand-style seating for those watching the event, although spectators are welcome to bring their own seating.
