His vocal style is often compared ... to that of Donnie Hathaway, Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke, blended with the contemporary likes of John Legend and Ne-Yo. He has perf...ormed alongside industry greats like Cee-Lo, Erykah Badu, Chrisette Michelle, Ludacris, Bilal, and Floetry to name a few. Rudy is truly "a legend before his time"!
Recently, he was featured on "The View" and BET's 106 & Park, where he performed "Zion". Currence also recently recorded and shot a video with the legendary Quincy Jones for the single "Soul Bossa Nostra", which also featured his DTP label head Ludacris. After hearing his voice, Jones declared Rudy as "something special"; high praise from the maestro behind Michael Jackson's solo career.
At Dallas LIVE, Rudy will be performing songs from his independently released debut CD "More Than You'll Ever Know" and sophomore album, "Here with You" including Songwriter, Sweetest Sacrifice, Don't Say Goodbye, Hey Love, Weave Ponytail, and "Anymore" from his highly anticipated major label project "Black Keys and Blue Skies"; which promises a classic, organic sound. It features production from hip hop stalwarts Salaam Remi and J.U.S.T.I.C.E League, as well as John Oates from Hall & Oats, Brian Michael Cox, Chuck Harmony.
His credits include: Recipient of the ASCAP writer's award in 2005, 2006 and 2007, writer credits for multi-platinum recording artist Mya and Ray J. He also featured song on the blockbuster hit movie The Bourne Identity.
Also performing will is producer, arranger, vocalist and songwriter, Deonis ”Pumah” Cook, which first began singing at the tender age of four. Though, it wasn’t until he joined the Grammy Award-winning collective, God's Property, that he truly began to realize his musical potential. He has had the privilege of working with many artists such as Kirk Franklin, Musiq Soulchild, Kiera "Kiki" Sheard, Fred Hammond, Jontez, Darwin Hobbs, Eykah Badu, Kim Burrell, Geno Young, Eric Roberson, Uncle Sam and emcee Brownlion.
