Old Friends, New Friends, LGBTQ Refugees, Newcomers to Canada Pride Bike Ride June 12, 2011

Sunday June 12 - Gay West Bicycle Club - Old Friends LGBTQ Refugees, Newcomers to Canada Pride Ride. We are only active LGBTQ leisure cycling club in Canada since 2003, with 120 members.

We do know some romances have developed between the genders. We also know that women enjoy cycle with men, especially personable ride leaders (tour guides) who make trips fun. There is a tendency for more experienced cyclists, who love to cruise other riders, to race ahead. That's OK. We understand, perfectly normal
on our bike tours.

There are always two guides on tours, one at back of the pack, keeping the stragglers organized and the pack together, no one is ever left ever behind, unless he/she requests dropping out.

Today we start the tour on Wards Island. We leisurely tour the island's many bike paths and historic homes, before head down to wooden bike path by the lake, cycling to Centre Island and then onto Harlan's Point. There are some male riders that may want to stroll aka cruise the Nude (Bum) Beach and leave the group. The main group and then circle back to Centre Island parkland picnicarea, near beach and food stands, for some leisure time. (BTW the Ride Leader always travels with tire patch kit, pump and small medic-kit).

What to bring. Pack a few sandwiches, water or pop. There are concession food stands near picnic area, if you're not domesticated. We strongly advise wearing a Helmut, mandatory for those under 18.

The Details: Everyone meets at Toronto Ferry Docks at 12 Noon. Wards Island Ferry leaves docks 12.45 PM sharp. (This will give us a bit of leisure time, late arrivals, before joining ticket lineup at 12. 25 PM)

The Ferry is not run by TTC. (Round trip) prices are: Adults $6.50 Students under 19 and Seniors $4.00. Centre Island Ferry leaves dock for The City 3.30 pm, 4.30 pm and 5.15 pm.
