Okras 1st Annual Jazz Festival kicks off this year with a bang! There will be a French Market, Crawfish Boil, events for children, and great Music throughout the day beginning at 1pm and running until 11pm!
The event, expected to draw upward of 5,000 spectators, will include food, children's activities and a "French Market." Crawfish is being flown in Saturday morning for the festival, which will also feature Natchitoches meat pies, fried alligator baskets, shrimp jambalaya, chicken gumbo, red beans and rice, Cajun chicken on a stick and Zapp's potato chips.
Admission prices benefit local charities, with proceeds going to Court Appointed Special Advocates and the Prince William County Public Schools Education Fund. Also events provide fun for the whole family. This Festival will be held at the Harris Pavilion in Manassas, VA.
Musical performers will include Kelly Bell Band (Named Best Blues Band in the Mid-Atlantic Region), Sol Creech Band (recently a part of the Congressional Blues Fest), Eli Cook, Gridloc, Harlen Simple, Jefferson Street Strutters, and many more! The music styles will range from Blues, Funk, Reggae, R&B, and Rock.
"Each band will bring a little different feel of traditional Jazz Fest music with the emphasis on blues, jazz and Dixie," said Charles Gilliam, owner of Okra's Louisiana Bistro in Old Town Manassas, the festival's sponsor.
