Join OJR on the USC campus March 3, as journalists who have built their own publications online share their secrets and discuss the future.
http://www.ojr.org/ojr/conference/
Participants will gather in "BloggerCon"-style discussion sessions to talk about issues and challenges we face. Topics will include:
* Selecting or developing the right publishing tools to support better online journalism,
* Building and maintaining a civil online community that extends your site's ability to report the news,
* Business and legal issues that confront journalists when they become publishers running their own online news sites.
There will be no mindless debates on settled questions like "is blogging journalism?" or basic tutorials such as how to blog.
The conference will be led by OJR editor Robert Niles and will include OJR writers and prominent local online journalists as well as USC journalism faculty.
All journalists and independent Web publishers are welcomed to join us for the event, which will be held on the USC campus, just south of downtown Los Angeles. Admission is free and lunch will be served. Space is limited, but a waiting list will be maintained once all available registration slots are filled.
