Nashville Symphony
Stanisław Skrowaczewski, conductor
Garrick Ohlsson, piano
Chopin - Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor
Bruckner - Symphony No. 2 in C minor
Stanisław Skrowaczewski is one of the greatest conductors of our time — and he’s also one of the world’s foremost interpreters of Anton Bruckner, a composer whose richly orchestrated music is just right for the acoustics of Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Guest pianist Garrick Ohlsson will showcase his own specialty: the work of Frédéric Chopin. The composer’s First Piano Concerto is full of poetic passages, parts of which were meant, in Chopin’s words, to “convey the impression one receives when the eye rests on a beloved landscape.”
Presented by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra League, our free Classical Conversations take place in the Schermerhorn’s Balcony Lobby one hour before all SunTrust Classical Series concerts. Learn more about the music, and engage in a lively conversation with our conductors, guest artists and musicians!
