Ohlone Wind Orchestra announces its Fall 2011 Concert
The Ohlone Wind Orchestra, California's Premier Wind Orchestra, announces its Fall Concert on Sunday, October 9, 2011, 2:00 pm at the Gary Soren Smith Center for the Fine and Performing Arts in Fremont, CA.
California's Premier Wind Orchestra presents a program of classics and modern music for wind ensemble.
Classic works include Gershwin's "Cuban Overture," Jerry Bilik's "American Civil War Fantasy," and Ginastera's "Danza Final (Malambo)."
Modern selections include James Curnow's "Praetorius Variations," Larry Daehn's "As Summer Was Just Beginning (Song for James Dean)", and Philip Sparke's monumental "Music of the Spheres."
Guest Conductor Dr. Robert Franzblau will conduct Ticheli's "Angels in the Architecture."
The Ohlone Wind Orchestra (OWO), "California's Premier Wind Orchestra," directed by Tony Clements, is a leading professional quality American wind ensemble. The band is comprised of 50 woodwind, brass and percussion players. The performs an eclectic blend of music, ranging from Bach to Broadway and beyond.
