Software Association of Oregon - International SIG
Although offshoring application development is commonplace now, success is not by any means guaranteed. In many cases, the gains made by lower labor costs are more than offset by the difficulties in managing such projects. Finding the best partner, implementing advantageous terms and then managing the project to success are the essential elements to ensure a solid return on investment. The International SIG of the Software Association of Oregon is pleased to offer a panel discussion that will explore best practices on the sourcing of offshore resources and the management of offshore development projects.

Mr. Parker will be acting as moderator for this session
Speakers
Will Claridge, Director of Quality Assurance, Tripwire
Mr. Claridge will look at best practices in sourcing an outsource vendor and country, and take a look at the factors that are contributing his current vendor's success.
Adam Simantel, Director of Development, Iovation
Most people think of Agile development only in the context of co-located teams, but some have successfully extended it to include their offshore development teams. Mr. Simantel will explore his use of Agile development techniques in various offshore/outsourced projects.
John Gasper, Director of Development, Sabrix
Mr. Gasper will focus on navigating cultural issues in outsourced/offshore development projects, drawing lessons from his experience in projects that were both highly successful and those that were less so.
