Of Time and the City March 28, 2009

British director Terence Davies's latest film is a hauntingly evocative essay-poem on the history of his home city—Liverpool, England. The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw calls the films "miraculous."

Funny, romantic, and bitingly cynical by turns, the film blends archival footage from the city's days as an industrial hub with contemporary footage of Davies visiting childhood haunts, all tied together by his voiceover reminiscences.
