Celebrating transportation heritage and community, the third annual OcTrolleyFest takes place on Saturday, October 20, 2007 with events from 9:30 am to 3:00 PM. Started in 2005 to celebrate the area’s oldest surviving trolley line (SEPTA Route 11 which began service in December 1858 as a horse car line) OcTrolleyFest features a 1947 Vintage Trolley that makes a loop between Darby, Yeadon, Colwyn, and Southwest Philadelphia with events along the route. Riding the trolley is free, space permitting. The theme this year is “Trolleys and All That Jazz” and also celebrates the centennial of the arrival of the streetcar in Yeadon and Collingdale, and the 325 anniversary of the founding of Pennsylvania .
