A Father's Day weekend tradition, the Onesti Festa Pasta Vino Festival at 24th and Oakley Avenue in Chicago will pack the Old Neighborhood with flavor and traditional Italian experiences Friday, June 14th through Sunday June 16th. It's a beloved music- and cannoli-filled block party that welcomes more than 25,000 Italian food lovers each year.
"This event is about tradition, family, and our heritage," said Ron Onesti, chairman of Festa Pasta Vino. "Generations-old recipes surrounded by amazing music and fine wine in a classic neighborhood setting...really, can it get any better?"
Some of Chicago's most authentic Italian restaurants will offer their secret family recipes streetside. These restaurants are located right on the block and bring with them traditions of generations gone by. They are: Ignotz, Bacchanalia, La Fontanella, Micelis Deli, and Il Vicinato.
Strolling performers, Sinatra-style crooners, children's activities, wine tastings and an Italian marketplace are just a few of the activities that make up the event.
Hours for the festival are: Friday, 5-11pm; Saturday, Noon to 11 pm, and Sunday, Noon to 9 pm.
The suggested donation is $7 for adults as a contribution for the entertainment, security, transportation, staging and equipment costs associated with the celebration. The event is open to the public and is independently produced by the Onesti Entertainment Corporation and The Heart of Italy Association.
