January 20 - 29, 2012
Oakland will celebrate its second annual Restaurant Week January 20-29, 2012, with more than two dozen restaurants offering special prix fixe menus at $20, $30 or $40. Held in correlation with California Restaurant Month, this ten day event is an opportunity for visitors and locals to taste some of the best food in the Bay Area.
Oakland's cuisine is unique in that the restaurants often focus on sustainable practices, purchasing ingredients from local farmers' markets and designing menus based on what is in season. As one of the most diverse cities in the country, many of Oakland's restaurants also incorporate foods and flavors from different cultures. Restaurant Week is an ideal opportunity to experience Oakland's vibrant culinary scene and innovative menus.
Participating restaurants are located throughout Oakland in popular visitor and residential neighborhoods such as Grand Lake, Jack London Square, Montclair Village, Old Oakland, Rockridge and Uptown. Well-known chefs including Tanya Holland of Brown Sugar Kitchen, Rick Hackett of Bocanova, and Russell Moore of Camino will be a part of Oakland Restaurant Week.
Tickets and special passes are not required, but reservations are strongly recommended for those restaurants who take them. For more information on participating restaurants and menu offerings, visit www.visitoakland.org/restaurantweek.
