O Zone @ OMCA: The Art of Re-Gifting
Friday, December 10, 5 to 9 p.m.
The season of giving and reflecting on how we give and give back---recycling, volunteering, socializing---sets the tone for this month's O Zone at the Oakland Museum of California. Don't miss the final weeks to see PIXAR: 25 Years of Animation, as well as The Marvelous Museum: A Project by Mark Dion, and the Galleries of California Art and History. See demonstrations of gadgets in the OMCA's collection, then make your own in a gadget DIY hands-on workshop. Dance to the underground African spiritual sounds of Candido Oye Oba. Meet Pixar artists who helped make Wall*E, and watch a screening of the film. See a loop of Pixar shorts in the mini theater in the Hollywood section of the History Gallery. Enjoy seasonal treats in the Blue Oak cafe, and go holiday shopping at the OMCA Store, where you can also meet children's book illustrator J.otto at a booksigning for his new book, The Other Goose. Join OMCA in supporting the Alameda Food Bank and Toys for Tots and bring a donation to add to the barrels. All ages welcome. Included with Museum admission.
The Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) brings together collections of art, history and natural science under one roof to tell the extraordinary stories of California and its people.
