IAs and UX designers are often exceedingly careful to draw a sharp distinction between style and substance. But in fact style has always been a powerful design tool, acting as a rich resource for innovation and new solutions to design challenges. Style is a dynamic, self-correcting system;
it is a pattern language; it bridges branding and functionality, desirability and usefulness; it is, in fact, often the bridge between mere "best practices" and true innovation.

Join Christopher Fahey in a discussion of how, historically, style awareness is a core aspect of innovative design. If you'd like to attend, please send your RSVP to nyc-rsvp@ixda.org.
