In this groundbreaking exhibitionat the South Street Seaport Museum, visitors will explore how the Dutch colony New Amsterdam laid the foundation of today’s New York City. Visitors will encounter rare, 17th century maps, views and plans of New Amsterdam and the surrounding areas, as well as important letters and documents. Bringing history to life, New Amsterdam: The Island at the Center of the World will share the stories of some of the first pioneers’ arrival, struggles, and successes.
