NY400 Week: Flying Dutchman Sailing Race September 8, 2009

56 sailboats in the Flying Dutchman class, representing 10 countries, will compete in the '1609-2009 International Flying Dutchman Class 400th anniversary of New Amsterdam Regatta' on September 8, 9 & 10, and the '1609-2009 International Flying Dutchman Class Centennial World Championships on September 12. Sailing courses will vary daily based on wind conditions. On September 8, 9 & 10, the race is best viewed from Southern Tip Picnic area on Governors Island. The afternoon race on September 12 is best viewed at Battery Park, Downtown Manhattan. The winning crews will be announced in an offical trophy ceremony on Sunday, September 13 at Battery Park.
