The Metro Shores Ballet will present the Nutcracker at the Grosse Ile High School Auditorium on December 11th at 5:00 PM and December 12th at 2:00 PM. Both performances will be followed by a Sugar Plum Parade. Audience members will have the opportunity to meet the dancers on stage. Tickets are $15 for Adults and Teens, $12 for Children and $3 for the Sugar Plum Parade.

The role of Clara will be shared by Olivia Lovsin of the Plymouth-Canton area and Alysha Reimel of Grosse Ile. Olivia will be Clara at the December 11th performance and Alysha on the December 12th performance. The Nutcracker will be played by Reid Conlon also of the Plymouth-Canton area. Fritz will be played by Ian Smith of Grosse Ile. Alysha and Ian are both students at the Grosse Ile Middle School. Alysha is the reigning Great Lakes Junior Miss Dance and Ian is the reigning Great Lakes Master Dance. Amanda Woodward of Wyandotte will be playing the notorious Rat King. Makenzie Marinkovich of Grosse Ile will dance as the Snow Princess.
Many of the Grosse Ile Academy dancers will be performing the Nutcracker with the Plymouth-Canton Ballet in Plymouth, December 4th and 5th. The dancers will be accompanied in these performances by the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra. Alysha Reimel, Laura Hickman, Jackie Sabuda, Danielle Butler, Christina Butler, Ian Smith, Gavin Smith and Makenzie Marinkovich of Grosse Ile. Lucia Jelsomeno, Amanda Woodward, Emily Jelsomeno from Wyandotte. Rebecca Kakos from Southgate and Paige Adams of Gibraltar.

Many other dancers from the downriver area complete the Metro Shores Ballet company. They continue to work in rehearsals to put a great performance on the Grosse Ile High School stage. So come follow Clara as she journeys with the Nutcracker Prince from her home through the Land of Snow where the Snow Queen and the Snow Flakes send them to the Magic Kingdom where she is entertained by a vast array of dancers and honored by the Sugar Plum Fairy. It is a must see performance that your whole family will love.
