Numenta has announced the agenda for its upcoming HTM Workshop, a workshop dedicated to exploring Hierarchical Temporal Memory (HTM) and the Numenta Platform for Intelligent Computing (NuPIC), which will take place on Thursday, June 25, at the Dolce Hayes Mansion in San Jose, California.
Numenta is creating a new type of computing technology modeled on the structure and operation of the neocortex. HTM is based on a theory of neocortex first described in the book On Intelligence by Numenta co-founder Jeff Hawkins, and subsequently turned into a mathematical form by Numenta co-founder Dileep George. HTM technology is applicable to a broad class of problems from machine vision, to fraud detection, to semantic analysis of text.
Details of the agenda can be found at at http://www.htmworkshop.com/agenda.php
Highlights of the conference will include the release of the beta version of Numenta’s Vision Toolkit, keynotes by Numenta co-founders Jeff Hawkins and Dileep George, and a first look at HTM applications – including a preview of a “smart video” application under development at Vitamin D, Inc.
The workshop is targeted towards engineers and will be highly technical. Attendees are expected to have a basic understanding of HTM and NuPIC, either through previous experience, or by reviewing the DVDs from last year's workshop.
There are still spaces left for the Workshop, and Numenta is encouraging interested developers and students to sign up as soon as possible at http://www.htmworkshop.com/registration.php.
This is the only opportunity in 2009 to get together in person with others who are interested in exploring the possibilities of HTM technology.
