Join us at the Detroit Public Library’s Skillman Branch on Wednesday, May 16th for the fourth program in a 2007 series called Michigan Notable Books. This event features the book The History of Michigan Law, edited by Paul Finkelman and Martin J. Hershock.
This collection of essays by members of the legal community and academia traces the evolution of Michigan law, exploring the state’s leadership in developing civil rights law, the impact of industrialization, and the history of labor law. In addition to analyzing Michigan law, this highly readable and engaging book serves as an introduction to the history of Michigan politics.
Michigan Notable Books is a statewide program that began as part of the 1991 Michigan Week celebration, geared to pay tribute and draw attention to the many people, places and things that make Michigan life unique. In that regard, Michigan Notable Books successfully highlights Michigan books and writers focusing on the Great Lakes State. Each title on the 2007 list gives readers insight into what it means to make your home in Michigan and proves that some of the greatest stories are indeed found in the Great Lakes region.
This event will be held on Wednesday, May 16th at 12:30pm and will be free and open to the public. For more information, please call 313-628-2750 or visit our website at www.detroitpubliclibrary.org.
