Solar energy has been a viable water heating, space heating, and electricity generation option for home and business owners for roughly 30 years. Modern, reliable solar systems are now a more attractive opportunity than ever with high and rising energy prices and uncertain future energy supplies. Nonetheless, we see very few operating solar systems in the Northfield area.
The number of local solar systems should increase soon, as RENew Northfield is kicking off ?Northfield SolarWorks? at a 7 p.m. meeting on Thursday, May 11th in the Northfield Public Library meeting room. Northfield SolarWorks is a new initiative that seeks to rapidly bring solar energy into the mainstream by helping home and business owners make wise decisions about solar options, and connecting them with the resources to get systems installed.
Meeting participants will learn about:
*the opportunity to have a solar site analysis done to determine what solar option(s)might make sense at their home or business
*bulk buying of solar water heating systems that is planned with partner IPS Solar of Minneapolis
*opportunities to go beyond the bulk buy with solar space heating and/or solar electric (photovoltaic) systems
*solar system costs, financing options, and more.
The meeting is free and open to the public. For more information, call 645-7133.
