Interested in Marine Science? Want to spend time outdoors exploring local beaches and aboard Northeastern University's Research Vessel? Coastal Ocean Science Academy (COSA) is for students entering 9th or 10th grade in the fall of '06. During this two week academy, students will spend time doing field work in local marine habitats on the North Shore, spend time aboard Northeastern University's research vessel Mysis on oceanographic trips, as well as partake in ongoing Marine Science Center research.
Participants will be introduced to GIS/GPS, field sampling techniques, invasive species monitoring, beach clean-up, benthic organism surveys, ROV surveys and more. This is a great opportunity for students to be introduced to marine science and have some fun while doing so.
The program runs M-F from 8am - 3pm in Nahant, MA
