On Saturday, January 23, 2010, everyone is invited to watch as 60+ teams from local elementary and middle-schools demonstrate robots they’ve built from Lego parts in order to impress judges with their research about transportation safety for a chance to compete in an international event.
The teams built and programmed a LEGO MINDSTORMS® robot to explore one of the most challenging topics facing engineers today – safe transportation of people, things, animals and ideas. They have spent the past two months researching movement safety and developing their ideas and robots.
Organized by the Museum of Nature & Science, FLL is an exciting and fun global robotics program that ignites an enthusiasm for discovery, science, and technology in kids ages 9 to 14.
ExxonMobil, Greater Texas Foundation, Lockheed Martin, and Rockwall Collins are sponsors of this “sporting event for the mind,” which is a program of the nonprofit For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.
