Bring you favorite chili head to the North Market on Saturday, February 17th for the 4th Annual Fiery Foods Festival. It is a guaranteed haven for those who crave capsaicin!
The Fiery Foods Festival gives amateurs ample opportunity to demonstrate their culinary prowess! Customers can prove their chili cooking acumen in a competition that will garner the first place winner $100 and the runner up $50 in North Market gift certificates. Those showing off their salsa making skills can win a first prize of $50 and second prize $25 in market gift certificates. Entrants to all cooking contests must include at least three ingredients obtained from the North Market (verified by receipts). He (or she) with the most resilient mouth can enter our chile pepper eating contest. Contestants will eat their way through a progression of hotter and hotter chiles, and the last one standing will claim $50 in North Market gift certificates.
Making a popular return this year the Chef Chili Challenge will pit local chefs against one another as contenders for the title “North Market Chili Champ 2007,” a special trophy and $200 in North Market gift certificates.
“The Fiery Foods Festival is great because its theme can be demonstrated in so many ways by each of our different merchants,” said David Wible, Executive Director of the North Market.
