'Made Love, Got War: Close Encounters with America's Welfare State' is a memoir of growing up in the 1950s and !60s, being immersed in what was going on in the world at the time in more ways he might have known (his father worked at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation). Coupled with insight drawn from years of adult work and perspective, including seeing where things are now, this is a powerful book.
